The Hyde Park is conveniently located and easy walking distance to many downtown Arlington amenities.
Restaurants – From P.F.Chang’s to Chevy’s Fresh Mex, the Ballston scene has nearly every kind of dining --from fast food to three-star favorites like Willow. Ballston’s array of ethnic choices includes Tara Thai as well as Afghan, Indian, Chinese, Japanese, Italian and Caribbean choices. American-style choices like Ted’s Montana Grill are abundant. There are over 50 places to eat within 15 minutes walking from Hyde Park.
Entertainment – The Regal stadium-seating multiplex theaters in the Ballston Common Mall are next door to The Comedy Store nightclub. Some of Ballston’s more popular bars include Rock Bottom and Bailey’s, in the Mall, and The Front Page on Wilson. The bar at the Rio Grande Café on Fairfax Drive is very popular, as is CarPool, which will soon give way to new tower. Just across Glebe Road, the Kettler Capitals Iceplex features year-round public ice skating as well as hosting Major League Hockey practices at the home rink of the Washington Capitals. Feeling more upscale? The tony cocktail salon at the new Westin Hotel is stand-out as a posh, chic spot to enjoy a martini or two…and then walk home.
Groceries - right next door is Harris Teeter, an upscale, 24/7 grocery retailer with a great deli and seafood counter and an extensive wine shop upstairs, adjacent to the closest pharmacy to the Hyde Park. The new Virginia ABC Store is on Quincy near 9th, Street, just steps away from one of the area’s largest Yoga centers. All life’s needs so close at hand!
Shopping - Macy’s is the lead department store at the Ballston Common Mall, with many specialty shops within a three-story atrium filled with skaters, Metro riders and movie goers. These days the Mall is more about “activity” and “eating” than “retail.” Nearby Clarendon has the most retail offerings in central Arlington’s Wilson Boulevard corridor between Ballston and Rosslyn. Besides the Mall, we are still walking distance to Staples and even a Next Door Blinds. But more retail is on the way!
